Title : Unreal Tournament Playstation 2 Characters Pack 3.0
Release Date : October 31st, 2024
File Name : UT_PS2_Characters_v3_0.zip
Author(s) : Original models by James Green (Epic Games), converted by AlCapowned
E-mail Address : totalalcapownage(at)gmail(dot)com
Web Page : None

1) Description
==================================================
Original models, textures, and animations by Epic Games.

This pack contains 16 converted characters from the Playstation 2 version of Unreal Tournament.

The models included are:

Damien
Dominator
Female Commando
Female Mercenary
Female Soldier
Female Soldier 2
Male Commando
Male Mercenary
Male Necris
Male Soldier
Rampage
Raw Steel
Skaarj Hybrid
Skaarj Hybrid 2
War Machine
Xan

Bonus skins:

Superfly (Unused face for the Skaarj Hybrids and Dominator)
Beta Kregore (Unused Raw Steel face)

Several models can use more skins than their names imply. For example, the Raw Steel model can use Soldier, Thundercrash, Metal Guard, and War Machine skins, as well as the Raw Steel skins.
This isn't a feature in the original game, but most skins fit the alternate models well enough that I thought they were worth including.

2) Requirements
==================================================

This pack requires Unreal Tournament version 436, Bonus Pack 1, and Psychic_313's Advanced Model Support. AMS is included with the pack.

I recommend something like XBots for the expanded bot selection menus.

3) Basic Installation
==================================================

Extract the files into your UT directory. U and INT files go into the System folder, UTX files go into the Textures folder.

DamienPS2.int and PS2WarMachineM.int are dummy files that can be ignored if you haven't installed a previous version of this pack.

4) Commands
==================================================
To switch animation sets between certain characters, use the command "switchanim <number>" without quotes.

For the female characters, switchanim 0 will force the soldier's animation set, and switchanim 1 forces the commando's/mercenary's set.
For the (regular) skaarj hybrids and Dominator, 0 forces the regular skaarj hybrid animation set, and 1 forces Dominator's set.
For the male humans, skaarj hybrid 2, Rampage, Xan, and the war machines, 0 will force the standard male set, 1 forces Damien's, 2 forces Rampage's, and 3 forces Xan's.

There are extra gestures you can use with the taunt command.
taunt challenge (all characters; can be bound in Advanced Model Support's options)
taunt winner (all except Dominator and the standard skaarj hybrids; has to be bound using set input <key> taunt winner)

5) Mutators
==================================================
This pack comes with a mutator that replicates the fading effect of corpses from the PS2 game.

6) Server installation
==================================================

To use all of the models and their default UT skins, add the following lines to your UnrealTournament.ini file,
underneath the "[Engine.GameEngine]" heading:

ServerPackages=AdvancedModelSupport
ServerPackages=UTPS2Characters
ServerPackages=UTPS2CharactersSkins

The alternative to all of this would be to use Valhalla Avatar, although it causes a few problems (see known issues).

7) Changelog
==================================================
3.0:
	Consolidated most of the skins from the previous versions into UTPS2Characters.u (classes) and UTPS2CharactersSkins.utx (textures)
	Removed the ISV commando, beta Blake, and beta Nickolai skins
	Replaced most of my remade skaarj hybrid animations with the higher-quality Epic originals (with some exceptions due to broken source animations)
	Used the final version of the models as the base for most characters
	Added the 2nd variant of the female soldier model
	Added the 2nd variant of the skaarj hybrid model that uses the male human animations
	Removed Psychic_313's war machine and added the war machine to the base pack
	Gave the female mercenary a backpack (not accurate to the original model, but the skins were made with the backpack in mind)
	Adjusted the female commando's UV maps and increased the size of the backpack to better hide the back textures (same issue as the mercenary)
	Replaced the base male animation set with the final version from the PS2 game (the most notable difference being an improved pelvic thrust taunt)
	Replaced the female soldier's animation set with the final version from the PS2 game (the set Psychic_313 used for AMS seems to be unused)
	Kept most of the previous animation set for the female commando and mercenary, but replaced the backrun animation
	Added headless corpses and proper headshot support to all characters (Dominator has a chance to only lose his helmet)
	Gave the War Machines custom gibs
	Made some of Xan's, Rampage's, Dominator's, and the War Machines' gibs inherit their skins
	Replaced Damien's custom gibs with the generic originals
	Added a mutator to make all characters' corpses turn translucent before disappearing as in the PS2 version
	Replaced the talk textures of Damien, Dominator, and Xan with higher-quality original versions
	Replaced Rampage's talk texture with one that accurately portrays his model (the Warboss texture seems to have been given to him by mistake in the PS2 game)
	Replaced the PC Warboss' talk texture with a higher-quality PS2 version
	Replaced the talk textures of certain characters with the PS2 character selection art where possible (Fury's, Throk's, and Guardian's portraits were given to characters that more accurately reflect the artwork)
	Gave the female commandos new talk textures
	Redid all the other custom talk textures
	Modified all of the PC Warboss' skins to better suit Rampage's model
	Replaced Damien's skin (which had been ripped through PCSX2) with the higher-quality source version and redid his team skins
	Replaced Rampage's skin from the model archive with the one from the final source (less overly saturated) and redid his team skins
	Redid all of Dominator's team skins
	Redid Xan's gold team skin
	Made new status dolls for Rampage, the War Machines, and the female soldier
	Made various improvements to the other status dolls
	Made it so selecting one of the boss characters without a team skin will announce their names and play their intro animation
	Made the Skaarj Hybrids' Victory1 taunt accurate to the original, but the Dominator taunt can still be used by assigning a key to AMS' challenge taunt or using the "taunt challenge" command in the console
	Gave Dominator his own animation set in which the Victory1 animation is his unique taunt (the real Victory1 taunt can be used by assigning a key to AMS' challenge taunt or using the "taunt challenge" command)
	Gave Damien, Rampage, and Xan their own animation sets for unique taunts (did this instead of coding to make them work with Valhalla Avatar)
	Adjusted the sound slots for Dominator's unique taunt
	Gave the Skaarj Hybrids/Dominator an unarmed walking animation
	Made all characters make use of the idle crouching animations
	Renamed Dominator's character selection entry from SkaarjBoss to Dominator
	Marked some skins as (Default) in the player setup menu
	Renamed all the characters to start with (PS2) in the player setup menu
	Expanded Dominator's voice pack to include friendly fire and team leader lines
	Made the skaarj hybrid/dominator chest thump taunt play sounds
	Filled the hole in Rampage's foot gib
	Shrunk the size of the skaarj hybrids'/Dominator's head gib
	Changed the idle animations in the character selection screen (kept the female characters' extra animation set in the pack for compatibility with SolidusSupremus's modified female commandos pack)
	Added the SwitchAnim command (see the Commands section)
	Added the winner taunt to all but the standard skaarj hybrids and Dominator (see the Commands section)
	Consolidated Damien's player/bot subclasses into DamienPS2/DamienPS2Bot
	Fixed the male soldier, raw steel, and war machines having the incorrect jump sound
	Fixed a bug with Xan and Rampage using the default male voice if Xan isn't unlocked from the single player ladder
	Made a Robot (PS2) voice class for Rampage and Xan that counts as a male voice, and gave Xan and Rampage access to other male voices
	Adjusted the rotation and positions of all the custom gibs
	Made Dominator's helmet and shoulder pad gibs make sparks instead of blood
	Adjusted the model origins/scale of Dominator and the skaarj hybrids (not 2) to be closer to the PC skaarj hybrids
2.6:
	Added War Machine that can use male voices by popular request. This is in a file separate and does not change the original PS2 War Machines.
	Fixed Dominator's talk texture.
2.5:
	Added the War Machines (courtesy of Psychic_313).
	Added beta Blake and beta Kregore faces.
	Added Dominator skins for the PC/PS2 Skaarj Hybrids.
	Added Breath3 animations to characters so they work in the normal menu without Oldskool.
	Added several custom gibs for Damien, Dominator, Rampage, and Xan. Dominator and the Skaarj Hybrids also use Skaarj gibs.
	Added acknowledgement and other sounds to Dominator's voice pack.
	Removed Dominator as a separate class. His skins have been split into another file and moved to the SkaarjBoss class.
	Dominator's talk texture no longer changes based on the player's team because of the above change.
	Dominator now uses tskmskins_dominator.utx for his custom skin and tskmskins.utx for the original Skaarj Hybrid skins.
	Changed Dominator's team skins to use the Skaarj symbol.
	The UV maps of each character are now perfectly scaled.
	Optimized the skeletons of each character. They are now all much closer to Epic's original models.
	Removed unused dummy bones from each model.
	Fixed the tearing problem with every model.
	Replaced male ISV commando skins with the skins from the UT beta.
	Changed "Zachary" to "Nickolai (Beta)" and used the texture from the UT beta.
	Female characters now use the animation file included with Advanced Model Support.
	Improved Damien's status doll and added new status dolls for everyone but Rampage and the soldiers.
	Made adjustments to Damien's team skins.

2.4:
	Impoved a few animations for the Skaarj Hybrid (such as Wave and Dead9)

	Removed the need for Bonus Pack 4 and the Bonus Pack 4 Skinnability Fix (for real this time)
	All of the Skaarj characters should fit into the same places that the PC Skaarj Hybrids can
2.3:
	All of the bots should now have sounds.

	Added a new talktexture for Nickolai

1.5: Added Damien to the pack and improved talktextures

1.1: Fixed a problem with the Male Commando bot

1.0: Initial release

8) Known Issues
==================================================

1. In the character selection screen, some models will suddenly use the animations of other models. This doesn't change the in-game models in any way.
2. Damien's back spikes sometimes float above him if he is playing a death animation.
3. Valhalla Avatar can cause minor problems for some of the models (ie. the Skaarj Hybrid won't do the correct dodging animations, animation rates change, headshot gibs don't spawn, etc.); all of the characters are playable, however.
4. Some of the female characters' arms sometimes get really thin during certain animations. None of my changes have been able to fix this.
5. There are some issues with the arms and shoulderpads of the Necris model which I haven't been able to fix.
6. The war machines are not compatible with Psychic_313's war machine skin packs.
7. There are various clipping issues depending on the model and animation.
8. Some models have minor mesh tearing when their fatness is increased.
9. The boss announcer sounds don't usually play outside of the intro level.
